Welcome to the DEN!

The best Eagles Fan Club in the Phoenix area, The Desert Eagles’ Nest welcomes you to our web site and also to join us to root the Eagles to victory.

We are meeting in a great place again this year, one that made last season a great experience. The Upper Deck Sports Grill in Scottsdale has welcomed us back to watch games and celebrate this season.

Why Join the Desert Eagles’ Nest?

Email David at one.deserteaglesnest(at)yahoo.com.

There’s a few reasons to join. The first is that there’s nothing better than watching your favorite team surrounded by crazy, obnoxious, loud, cheering Eagles fans. The second is a cool Desert Eagles’ Nest t-shirt. The third is the raffles. We've raffled away some cool Eagles items and will continue to do so.

Plus you get to hear the EAGLES fight song, played every time we score a touchdown.

Transportation Info

For those of you traveling/driving, here is a link to the bar: Upper Deck

Green Legion members, El Paso, The Shack in L.A., Plumb Crazys in San Diego, New Mexico and anyone coming into the Valley for both events, there is a Rock n Roll Marathon going on and there are some Street closures you'll need to be aware of if coming in from the west valley or south of Scottdale. Scottsdale Rd. will be closed, including parts of Hayden.

Its important to know to stay on the hwys, if coming from west valley stay on the I-10 to 202 east to 101 north do not get off till you get to 101 and go north to Chapparal.

The easiest route is going to be off the 101, exit Chapparal and go west to Scottsdale Rd, you will turn left going South to 5th ave, it is two streets past Camelback Rd. Look for Philadelphia Sandwich Company and turn right going East. You'll want to look for the parking structure on the left (kinda down an alley), you will find parking near Upper Deck, limited and difficult. The parking structure is FREE. If you miss the turn on 5th you can continue down to 3rd ave, turn right and the parking structure is on your right.

I am doing my best to give everyone a heads up, but I am doing the best with the directions on how to get there. I cannot give everyone SPECIFIC DIRECTIONS, please see the link for road closures and speak with your driver.Road Closures

AT UPPER DECK THIS SUNDAY NIGHT

Nov 9, 2008 - ON-LINE AND BACK IN PHILADELPHIA

Here we are, fresh off a 26-7 Win over the Seahawks 5-3 and 2 games out of first place. Not where I thought this team could be, and should be. Two 4 point losses and one 6 point loss. So if this team is going to make a playoff run and be a contender it needs to show up in all facets against the Giants. I will say it, and I will say it again. THIS IS A MUST WIN! Dallas could be eliminated quickly from the playoffs with a couple more Ls. The Redskins hit a hot streak and are cooling off again with a beat down on MNF. THIS IS A MUST WIN, MUST WIN NOW GAME!!!

****We also have 4 tickets for Sunday's NASCAR race. If you are interested, contact me, Dave, immediately for details, the value of the tickets are over $100. You would need to meet ahead of time to pick up tickets****

It's a late Sunday Night game. Start time is 6:15pm. Looking at the schedule, it looks like it will be a mild day at the deck for the late games (Panthers, Raiders, Chiefs, Chargers, Colts and Steelers). So I would suggest to get there early if you want to assure good seat, I don't expect you will be competing with the afternoon games, however. I do expect some Giants fans to come in numbers.

I want to take a moment and express the importance of our conduct Sunday night. USE CLASS. I am not addressing anyone or referring to any specific incident. I understand that this is a HEATED rival game vs a division opponent and only preempting any and all concerns. If a classless giants fan wants to chuck a ketchup bottle again, let them get handled by Security at Upper Deck. Be loud and proud, just don't instigate.....much. Have your limits, it makes the smile at the end that much better.

EAGLE IN THE NEST

This Sunday, Atlanta Falcons. It's a 10am kickoff. David is getting tons of givaways from sponsors: Philadelphia Sandwich company, Hollywood Hair For You Hair Salon, and a Phillies fan care package from Comcast Sports Philadelphia.

BYE WEEK PICNIC

Sunday, 11:00am, Indian School Park

The picnic is getting bigger and bigger every year. I expect nothing less this year, so there is no excuse. Family and friends are welcome. Non DEN members as well. Volleyball game at 1:00pm.

I am going to encourage some to bring Softball gloves as well maybe after the park we can warm up for our Co-ed Spring team, the Phanatics.

Okay its offical 11:00am is start time, I have included a park map, 4289 N. Hayden Road (Northeast corner of Hayden and Indian School Roads) Ramada 5 & 6.

We are playing a new Army unit this year, they have been advised we play for keeps, so dont let me down, all ballers must come!

Anyone one not sure what to bring, funds for the DJ would be helpful $10-$20 the park reservations over a $100 out of pocket as well.

See you there,

David

BYRON EVANS APPEARANCE

Its official!!! Byron Evans will be at the Upper Deck, located @ 4224 N. Craftsman Court. 1 block West of Scottsdale Rd. between 3rd & 5th Ave. The former Great Philadelphia Eagles LB will be signing autographs. Because its only for 2 hours, we have ordered 8x10s from a good source and great picture. He will also be taking pictures, we have a photographer, former Philadelphia homicide detective Felix Cervantes retired, Now Desert Eagles Member. A donation to Byron's Church will be accepted, I know I said $5 but let that stand for single items brought, if you bring more than one expect to donate some more, between $10-20 would be a good number. Remember I am going off the min, lets be classy about this and do what you can for his church. The 8x10s will be available at the table, prices will be posted later. Let me be clear on this, because I don't want this to turn into a EBay auction. This is for TRUE EAGLES FANS. So don't show up with 5 cards, 15 balls and 20 8x10s You will be turned away. Its 2 hours only, so quick in and out. It will get cut off when game starts. No question, I want it to be fun for everyone, so don't hold up the line please. #1 lets be classy save the A-hole chants till game time or when Byron leaves, Byron is being generous to our club in coming out, lets not give him a reason to come back again.

With all that out of the way, I want everyone to understand that the Desert Eagles Nest recognizes Sept 11, 2001 and the men and women, children lost that day. Including all the families that are affected. Please send a prayer not only to them, but the men and women and families affected by the War in Iraq and Afghanistan. Support your troops, here's to bringing them home safe. The Desert Eagles Nest is a proud sponsor of our Military, and will have on going chances to send care packages to troops and units.

Children accompanied with an adult are welcome to come til game time after that its a 21 year old establishment. If you planned on bringing children to the game contact me, David, immediately for details and accommodations re to the atmosphere on Monday Night. Children are welcome at the game, however there is a disclosure, and at your own risk.

Because of the big game and all the madness, I will not be distributing Member T-shirts Monday night. I will be at Upper Deck the following week vs the Steelers. This is a reminder, next weeks game on Sunday Sept 21 is an afternoon game 1:15 pm. As its gone in the past, if you want a for sure seat get there early. Other wise you will take the chance that the crowd from the prior game does not clear out.

For all of those that emailed me about Shante Carver on the website, Tom is working that out, there will be a change. Atleast he went to ASU.

That's all for now... See you at the game - David

E-A-G-L-E-S tied for first in the Division!

Well, the Eagles didn't disappoint us in the first game of the season and neither did our Desert Eagles Nest. We had a packed house upstairs and down. We had our regulars and a mix of new members. A signed Randall Cunningham jersey was raffled off to the members and we had a great time. Make sure you join us every week.

BIRDS FANS !

DEN membership is $20 for the season. As usual it includes our DEN t-shirt, and a ticket when you enter the door at Upper Deck for a jersey giveaway (Must be present to receive ticket). You know the drill, discounts at DEN sponsors and events. Hit up myspace for details.

SPONSORS! Okay here's the scoop, I have received many request to sponsor the club this year. Its simple $100 rate gets you on our website, all of our advertisements (post card campaign this year) along with scheduled nights or days for your business.

Our bye week picnic is Oct 19 late October YEAAAA! that means is cooler late Oct. If you have any suggestions please call. We are set again for a DJ and expect another match with the Arizona National Guard for the Lombirdy. As you know we took it home last year in a convincing fashion, so expect a come back from the guard this year. The series is now 1-1.

Away games Seattle and San Fransisco if anyone is looking to go as a group let me(David) know, I can look into group discount tickets and hotels. As it stands I would need 25 plus people to consider.

Thanksgiving night....I need to know in advance for Tom if anyone is wanting to watch the game at Upper Deck. Its not as crazy as it sounds, I know some of you are saying its Thanksgiving...however that day is one of the biggest nights for the movie theaters. So we know people are getting out after the dinner. I will need at least 75-100 RSVP before I approach Tom.

We won.

We held on to beat a poor Jets/NYTitans team this week, but we really need to play better if we have any hope of making the playoffs.

The second will be the day before the movie comes out, August 24, at 7pm at the AMC Mesa Grand.

First Encore Screening of Invincible - 7:00pm Aug 15, 2006

Second Encore Screening of Invincible - 7:00pm Aug 24, 2006

Friday, July 28 - Soon we'll have pictures from the screening. We had a good turnout. The movie was good, better than expected. It could have been a little more realistic if it wasn't a Disney film. I don't think I heard one Philly F-bomb, but it was still good. The one thing it did was make me that much more anxious for this season to get started. I can't wait to see our defense this year.

Wed, July 26 - Roc from Calling All Sports - ESPN Radio will be giving away free passes to the screening, so make sure you listen in to 860AM from 2 to 4pm for your chance to win.

Special Screening of Invincible - 7:00pm July 27, 2006

Dave has organized a pre-screening for the Desert Eagles' Nest this Thursday July 27th at 7:00pm at the AMC Esplanade 14 (Map).

Invincible movie trailer

A special screening for Eagles fans in the Phoenix area, set up with AMC Theaters, and we have a special allotment of tickets.

This will be a fun, time for Eagles fans, and a great way to kick off the season.

Thanks for setting this up Dave!!!

News From the Desert Eagles' Nest(East), Middle East

It's always great to hear from Adam, so here's his latest report from Iraq:

Hey EAGLES Fans,

Just wanted to send a quick hello from the other desert over here in Iraq. I'm missing the chicken wings, the atmosphere, and the fans there in Phoenix for sure, but have been catching as much of the games as I can, and keeping up on team news (which there has been a lot of lately as we all know). I've found another die-hard fan, one of the Docs in my unit saw me wearing my Eagles shirt at our Halloween party and I had someone to talk to the rest of the night. He gets the games recorded and sent out here VHS so any games we don't see we can re-watch. With the time-change- late games come on here at about 330 in the morning or so.

Everything here is going fine. Just living day-by-day and accomplishing the mission. I'm running a guard tower here, and keeping our camp safe from any insurgence. For the most part though, I'm looking forward to time flying and getting out of here next year. Speaking of flying - The C-130 aircraft that brought me from Kuwait to Iraq was from the Pennsylvania National Guard - and no kidding - had a Philadelphia Eagles Logo painted on the tail. You don't get a better omen than that. Not to mention that our chow hall is named, "The Eagle's Nest".

Have a beer for me at the next game, and I'll drink an O'Douls over here. It's all we're allowed. I'll be thinking of ya all and of course, - rooting for the birds!

Adam
aka SSG Casey

Cardinals game tickets UPDATE

October 28 - We purchased around 40 tickets from The Green Legion but have had problems collecting money. We sent in a check for about 3/4ths of the total amount, but there was a problem with the second check we sent. It was lost in the mail and we had to cancel it and recut another. The tickets are printed but I am told we are waiting on the second check to clear before we get the tickets. Should be very soon.

We will update this site and send out an email as soon as we get them.

In addition, we still have a few extra tickets, so if you're interested, bring cash or check(payable to Desert Eagles' Nest) to the game.

Thanks for your patience.

Eagles vs. Redskins

November 2 - Looks like this might be a Backup Bowl, with all the injuries this game might be much tougher than expected. In any case it should be an exciting one, and if not, that's ok, we'll still have fun. Last weekend, Kim won an Eagles sunshade and this weekend we'll be raffling off a cool Eagles Santa hat to one of our lucky members.

We're working on a new logo and when we finish it, we can order shirts.

See you all at Philly's. Game is at 6:30pm, Phoenix time.

Did you see?

Eagles Blocked Kick With 10 Men.

October 18, 2005

What can I say. The Eagles decided not to show up Sunday. Who will even remember this game when the Eagles shake it off and win the Superbowl? Good news is: Peggy won an Eagles shirt.

Chargers will be a tough game but the Eagles can win if they pull their heads out.

See ya at Philly's on Sunday.

October 3 - Hi all,

I am still in shock over that game! What a comeback! We had a great time at Philly's yesterday. There were some new faces as well as some well known faces. Always good to see the foam head every week. I want to wish Joe a great birthday. Those of you there got to enjoy some of his Eagles cake that he brought in. Welcome to the new members; John (who won a t-shirt in the drawing), Craig with the cool tattoos, and Mark. Also, welcome the new members from last week's game. I wasn't there so I will have to meet them later. I won't be at next week's game but Scott has agreed to run the show so we will still have an awesome prize drawing. Our recent new member Mike has graciously donated a $50 gift certificate to the Scottsdale Running Company. Remember members, your chances of winning gear and prizes are significantly increased by showing up to watch the games. We are in the making of getting some gear straight from Philly so we should have that soon.

Anyone interested in going to the Cards game with us and the Green Legion, buy your tickets now! We only have a few left! First come, first serve.

Julie

October 1 - This week we have the Chiefs and it's a late game, but arrive early if you want good seats.

September 15 - Hello all: I am sure that you are all in some level of mourning after last night's game and some of us are in a little shock too.

I guess it is to be expected when you start the game off throwing punches! Well, we wouldn't be the Eagles if we weren't the talk of the Universe, huh? Maybe it is a sign of greatness to come. Just hope that TO can start earning his measly wages and start to actually catch some passes.

August 10 - One of our own courageous members, Adam will be deploying to Iraq about the same time we start off the regular season. Here is a little note from him.

Hey there. Just wanted to send a quick hello and let you all know that I'm going to have to miss this next season. Not that I won't still be rooting for the Eagles(!), I'll just be rooting for them in Iraq, instead of at Philly's. (I hope the hot-wings are as good in Iraq) In about a month I'll be deploying with the famous 101st Airborne Division, stationed down here in Fort Campbell, KY. I couldn't have been sent to a better unit though, as our unit patch is the Screaming Eagle, which is not exactly the same, but is as close to the Eagles' logo as you can get in army patches. It must be fate. (www.campbell.army.mil). Anyway - it is going to be sad to be so far away when we win the Superbowl. I've heard that we'll probably get chances to see a few games, so I'm going to find all of the Eagles fans in my unit and start another chapter of the Desert Eagles Nest - cause after all - Arizona isn't the only desert out there - Iraq's got one of those too. I'll send pictures for the web-site if I can get the up-link and be cheering along with you all in spirit. One thing is for sure - my jersey is making the trip.

-Adam

August 1 - Training camp is here and preseason games are right around the corner. TO showed, but Westbrook didn't. Hopefully all will be straightened out soon.

July 28 - Training camp is just about here and we have almost all the rookies signed. T.O. will be in camp and Simon won't. I don't know who Corey's agent is, but if you ask me it's a stupid move on his part.

For all those who ordered tickets for the Eagles V. Cardinals game please get your money in as soon as possible. Thanks.

July 15 - Word is Donovan is in town getting his timing down. Keep your eyes open and you might see him around.

Mike 'Roc' Muraco from ESPN's Calling All Sports Show is a huge Eagles fan. Check him out on the air or at www.callingallsportsaz.com.

July 13 - Moving stuff around, rearranging. Pardon the dust. Make sure you email us pictures or any ideas for the site or the club.

For those of you who expressed interest, the tickets we bought for the Eagles v. Cardinals game are located in sections 17 & 18 starting at row 10 and going up.

Also, we're redesigning our logo and should have the site updated within 2 weeks.
